New Hall Farm….it’s perfect….

We went to have a second viewing at New Hall Farm today.  It’s perfect for what we need…more accessible which will mean more dogs rehomed which will free up space to rescue more.  The oldies can have a special kennel with outdoor runs, we can offer catering facilities, the Shires would have a perfect home with lots of visitors to stroke them and we would have a great learning centre for the kids who get so so much out of spending time at the kennels.

How Exciting

The amount of suitable properties on the market for Tia is untrue..we have been looking at loads and we are still in negotiations with one in Preston, although it probably is too far away from our base.  We are viewing New Hall again in Flockton, again it looks ideal but it is a lot of money.

Help with fundraising events

Coming up to the summer we often have more than one fundraising event at a weekend and need help in covering these.  The first of these is next weekend 28th and 29th April and I need someone or various someones to cover a tin rattling collection at Pets at Home in Wakefield.  I can arrange to get collecting tins delivered down and collected as long as we have cover between 9.30 and 16.30 (or thereabouts) on Saturday and 10.30 to 16.30 on Sunday.  If you could do any part of the day on either of these days, please give me a ring.  It would be good to get a large group of volunteers that we can call on, particularly during the summer when things get stretched.  We really appreciate your help.  Thanks Jo…07534 835403

Sponsored Walk

After a break of one year, we are looking to re-instate our annual sponsored walk again this year.  We would like to get everyone together for a mass greyhound and lurcher stroll on August bank holiday Sunday but need to find a suitable venue.  Unfortunately, the kennels do not have enough parking to make it a viable option so we are asking for your help.  What we need is a pub or other venue where there would be enough space to park lots of cars, a field where we can have a few stalls and possibly a barbecue (anyone willing to do the catering would be extremely welcome) with good dog walking nearby where we can have a route of a couple of miles or so.

Can you help with tombola prizes

You may think I’m slightly strange but I’m already looking forward to the summer shows and all the things we need to do to prepare ourselves.  One thing we really do need are lots of tombola prizes.  We have tombolas for most of the summer shows and need about 200 per show so if you have any unwanted gifts or anything you think would make a good prize, we would happily take them off your hands.  You can drop them at the kennels or at any of the collections we’re doing.  You can even drop them at the shops – just say they’re tombola prizes for Jo….  We also do games that involve choosing bottles so we need lots of bottles…wine….beer…pop….shampoo…whatever you have going spare.

Tia 100 – Quick Update

A huge thanks to everyone who signed up for our Tia 100 fundraisers and for all the funds you managed to raise for Tia.  Our aim was to get 100 people carrying out their own fundraising initiatives and events to raise £50 each which would be a whopping £5000 for Tia at the end of the year.  We got about 45 people signed up but the running total so far is an amazing £5,500 – well above our expectations.  We still have some more amounts to come in as well.
If you did some of your own fundraising for Tia in 2011 but don’t think you are included, please let me know and I can include you.  I’ll be doing a bigger update soon which will include what you have all done and the final amount raised.  Your thank you certificates will also be issued soon.
