New Hall Farm….it’s perfect….

We went to have a second viewing at New Hall Farm today. It’s perfect for what we need…more accessible which will mean more dogs rehomed which will free up space to rescue more. The oldies can have a special kennel with outdoor runs, we can offer catering facilities, the Shires would have a perfect home with lots of visitors to stroke them and we would have a great learning centre for the kids who get so so much out of spending time at the kennels.

What we need now is the money….Moorside is on the market and we are willing to do anything to secure New Hall. I know we are constantly asking for your help and time and time again you come up with the goods but this needs a little extra so I am asking you to spread the word, contact anyone you can think of who may be able to help secure the £500,000 extra we need. We have written to some of the rich and famous so if you want to do this, please check with me before doing this to make sure we don’t bombard the same people (Jo – 07534 835403). Ask your friends..we only need 500,000 people to give £1.00 or 100,000 to give £5.00. If you know anyone who would be happy to loan us the money, please let us know.

I have attached an information pack that you can use to persuade people. We need the money quick, and the quicker the better or we may have to resort to other methods….and we wouldn’t want that….would we. Thanks

First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Tia Show and to everyone who offered their help. It was a great success and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. All the money raised on the day will be used to put towards a new home for Tia as will the money we raised from all our big events.

Our next big fundraiser will be our annual sponsored walk on Sunday 26th August so please put the date in your diaries. We will be starting off from the Wills O’Nat pub in Meltham where we will have a few stalls and games and then setting off to walk on a route next to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, a lovely location, which will be approximately two miles. After the walk, the pub is putting on a barbecue for us where you can buy burgers and hotdogs for both you and the dogs and wile away the afternoon.

We included a sponsor form with the Spring Newsletter so you can get a good start – you don’t need to raise millions, we appreciate anything you can do.

Hi, hope all well with you 2 couple of pics of Ness {the fruitcake!} lovely dog does’nt like other dogs though but she’s getting better just growls first few times at new dogs,gentle introductions seem to work,still growls at them as they walk past its pretty funny.It’s just nerves as she settle’s in have to keep her on lead as she bounces of the fence if she sees anything in the field, she stopped having a growl at the horses in the field now so it’s progress lol! not moaning and she is staying so don’t panic.

Three years Ness was at Tia, another overlooked black lady…Good luck Ness and thanks to Neil & Liz who weren’t bothered who they got, they just wanted to give a long termer a home…

Maggy (Mae)

It was December 2004 when we visited your old kennels in Sowerby Bridge. Rich saw Mae, as she was known then, and instantly fell in love with her. She lay in her pen curled up in a ball while the other dogs barked excitedly at the prospect of visitors. Just over a week later she was home, in Honley, for her first Christmas with us.

Maggy soon settled in. She enjoyed our walks over Farnley, started to sniff the woods and chase squirrels. She put on some weight with a few roasted chicken dinners & started to look great – full of health. On trips to the sea side she’d run on the beach and show off her amazing speed. She was a happy dog, she was a wonderful friend.

We lost Maggy just over a month ago. She was a very old lady at that point, nearly 14 and she had struggled for some time getting up on to her feet. We said our last good bye to her at home, on her blankets by the fire place, a cosy spot that she loved.

We will never forget the absolute unconditional love and trust that Maggy showed us, our friends and family, despite the rough start she had to her younger years. We loved her very much, she came everywhere with us, she was a part of our family and we miss her terribly.

So, we just wanted to say thanks to you, for doing what you do for the dogs at Tia. Thanks for taking Maggy in and providing her with a home. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to love and look after such an amazing and beautiful lady.

Fubar

I think i had Fubar for 13 long years..

I have lost so many dogs recently i have lost count, but some are more special than others and one of the most special was Fubar.

A shaggy horrible farm dog when he came. He chased anything that moved and bit anyone he could catch. He came from the stray kennel in Doncaster.

He was leaping 5ft in the air to attract my attention and he did…

He was the most loyal dog i have ever owned…

He had another massive stroke on Friday, he did rally round a bit, but i couldn’t leave him to just get worse. So that was my Friday.

Although the dog show was brilliant i was sad…..that is why i brought Tinka and Fletch because they too are old and failing…I’ve had them longer than i care to remember aswell. All dogs that would have been put to sleep elsewhere…biters, escapers and Tink with her broken spine and incontinence…Special, loyal dogs….Deb

Help needed

Last Sunday Bob shattered a disc in his spine, dismantling a field shelter.

Most of the jobs we can sort, although a maintenance person would be of great use. But what i can’t do is get the field shelter.

I need 4/6 strong men or women to get the bloody thing next Sunday the 20th….don’t be shy….Deb

Brick in the Wall…

Can you help fill our wall at the Tia Show on Sunday? We’ll be promoting our Brick in the Wall campaign to see if we can make further inroads into Tia’s mortgage which will help enormously with securing new and bigger premises.

You can fill in the leaflets in the same way at the show to secure your brick for £10 but in addition, we’d like you to write your dedication on our brick kennel. We’d love to be able to fill it…..
